John Jones found guilty on an indictment for the highway robbery of John Sorrell in the parish of Writtle on 19th June 1763: robbing him of a coat (valued at 7/-), a waistcoat (valued at 9/-), a pair of shoes (valued at 2/-), shoe buckles (valued at 6d). a hat (valued at 5/-), a purse (valued at 1d), a brass parkett piece (valued at 1d) and 5 copper half pennies.  He was either executed on Friday, 5 August 1763 (according to Cambridge Chronicle) or reprieved on 16. 2.64.
